HISTORIC INTERNATIONAL PRESS CORPS
AGENDA: The Beginning of the End: Covering the Decline of the Soviet Union in Early 1991
Delegates here will have to navigate the complex geopolitics within the crumbling USSR and the twisting networks of alliances that came with it. In January 1991, as Soviet troops march through Lithuania and Latvia to prevent their secession, delegates will have to uphold their organisations' interests - in keeping the declining state together, or ripping it apart. Delegates will need to adapt quickly through fast-paced debate & constant crisis, and must reckon with the role of journalism in uncovering the truth behind crackdowns & in understanding how press shapes our perception of truth.
